LensMail 3 questions and answers

A little help, in sight.

Setup, everyday mail, and the few things worth knowing before you tap. 3.0.0 is public; the My LensMail additions marked 3.0.1 are being prepared for submission.

The basics

Is this the Microsoft Outlook app?

No. LensMail is an independent Even Hub app with Outlook-familiar mailbox names, actions, and editing workflows, designed for glasses. It is not a Microsoft product or a replacement for every Outlook feature. Rich formatting, attachment editing, calendars, and tenant administration remain outside LensMail.

What is new in 3.0?

Mailboxes and personal folders; combined tabs and filters; direct message opening; flags, details, and conversations; resumable drafts; saved phrases; recipient suggestions; a reversible keyboard; and optional Review & Send. Speccy remains the friendly envelope assistant. See release notes.

Which version is available in Even Hub?

3.0.0 is public. 3.0.1 adds My LensMail and the redesigned phone companion and is being prepared for submission. Check the Even Hub listing and About LensMail for the version you have installed.

Connecting Microsoft

Do I need to create a Microsoft app or enter a secret?

Most users choose Connect M365 for Me and sign in with Microsoft. It uses LensMail's existing public application and does not require a client secret. Your organization may require administrator consent. An organization-owned app registration is an optional advanced path, not the default. Follow Setup.

Does Connect M365 for Me configure my whole tenant?

No. Microsoft handles delegated consent under your organization's policies. An Enterprise Application/service principal may appear as part of that consent. LensMail does not gain application-wide mailbox access or unattended tenant administration.

Do I need new IDs or permissions for 3.0?

No change is introduced by this update. Existing Client ID, tenant, callback, and sign-in settings remain. Delegated User.Read, Mail.ReadWrite, and Mail.Send are unchanged. If an organization-specific registration lacks a required permission, ask its administrator to review the setup.

Why is there an auth.lensmail.net callback?

Even Hub uses changing localhost ports, so Microsoft needs a stable HTTPS return point. The static callback handles the short-lived PKCE sign-in handoff in your browser; it is not a mailbox server. See the callback explanation and Privacy Policy.

Reading and navigation

How do I step backward?

Use Up. Down moves forward, Tap opens the selection, and Hold opens Back/Home and task shortcuts. In 3.0 this also applies to keys: Up/Down choose; Tap types. Overview Tap now opens full reading directly; Hold keeps Preview available.

Why do some messages seem missing?

Open Inbox, choose All, clear the message filter to All Messages, and refresh. Focused/Other comes from Microsoft; Unread, Flagged, and With Attachments narrow the view further. Unread counts cover the whole folder, while message positions describe the selected view.

Will scrolling past the last page open another email?

No. Down stops at End of Email. Tap is a separate choice to open actions; Up returns to the final content page.

Can I open attachments?

Message Details shows attachment names and sizes only. LensMail does not download, open, add, or edit attachment content. Use Outlook for those tasks.

Can I use LensMail with the phone in my pocket?

That is the intended ring-first workflow. The phone still needs internet and a Bluetooth connection to the glasses, and Even/phone background restrictions still apply. If input stalls after sleep, try one new gesture, then reopen the companion if needed. Report persistent issues with version and device details.

Replies and sending

Can I send an email from LensMail?

In 3.0, optional Review & Send saves and rereads the actual draft, shows recipients including existing Bcc and the message, then asks separately. No - Keep Editing is the default. Only Yes - Send Email requests sending. Save to Outlook Drafts never sends.

What if a send times out or its status is unclear?

Do not repeatedly press Send or create another copy. Microsoft may have accepted the first request. Check Sent Items and Drafts first. LensMail does not automatically retry an uncertain send, and acceptance by Microsoft does not guarantee external delivery.

What is the difference between Done, Cancel, and Cancel Draft?

Keyboard Done keeps field edits. Keyboard Cancel discards only the active keyboard session. Cancel Draft leaves the editor, but does not delete an Outlook draft already saved. Use Outlook Drafts or LensMail Drafts to reopen it.

Where do suggested replies and recipient matches come from?

Suggested replies use local rules based on the current subject/body, not a paid AI service. In 3.0.0, recipient matches come from loaded senders. 3.0.1 also adds your local contacts and Outlook contacts you choose to load. This is not a company-wide directory search. You can always enter an address manually.

What is the difference between a saved reply and inserting text?

In 3.0.1, Saved replies is your reusable library of named messages. Insert text puts wording into the draft you are editing. Suggested replies are separate local suggestions based on that email. Inserting or saving wording never sends it. See My LensMail.

How many replies and contacts can I save?

3.0.1 supports 100 saved replies of up to 1,000 Unicode characters each, 250 local contacts, and an optional 500-character signature per account and connection. They stay on this device and are not cloud-backed up.

Do I have to allow Outlook contacts?

No. Email and local contacts work without it. Read-only access requests Contacts.Read; optional editing requests Contacts.ReadWrite, a permission that also allows deletion even though LensMail does not offer that action. Nothing is uploaded automatically. LensMail does not request phone contacts or the company directory. Your organization may require additional consent. See contact setup.

Does disconnecting contacts revoke Microsoft permission?

No. It removes LensMail's optional contact connection on the device and leaves email connected. Revoke the Microsoft permission separately in your account's app permissions or through your administrator. Local copies stay until you remove them.

Will another save create a duplicate draft?

Reopened and already-created drafts update the same Microsoft draft. If creation cannot be confirmed, LensMail asks you to check Outlook Drafts before trying to create another copy.

Privacy and support

Does LensMail keep my email on its servers?

There is no developer-operated mailbox backend. The installed app calls Microsoft Graph directly. Account configuration/tokens, user-saved phrases, and send-safety records use local app storage. See Privacy for the full data flow.

Where should I report an issue?

Email support@lensmail.net with LensMail version, phone platform, Even app version, firmware, exact screen text, and the last successful step. Never send passwords, secrets, tokens, authorization codes, or confidential mail. See Support.

Before connecting an account, review the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
